A nice Folky record on par with certain Sandy Denny work. I happen to like this better then any of her solo records. The backing band here is fantastic and consists of Might Baby members and Ketih Christmas. Shelagh writes about half the songs on this record! Nothing mind blowing but very pleasant indeed!.

One of the best records from the British folk revival. On this their fourth record Fairport Convention sound more traditional then on their earlier albums. To me the first 4 of their records are all equally as good. This particular album has one of my all time favorite tracks ever "Matty Groves" here they take a traditional song and while keeping the traditional structure they add in some great guitar work; that to me sounds mildly psychedelic. It is with this formula that my favorite band Trees would ape perfectly while at the same time adding their own flavour to the mix. To my ears this genre of music is the most haunting of all genre's...

After reading the fantastic reviews on this album in Galacic Ramble, I had to have a copy. With that said I am a littledisappointed. I don't hate this record at all but I can't say that I really love it all that much. I also read another review stating that this record is on the same level as A Jug Of Love by Mighty Baby. Thats absolutely not true! I wouldn't even consider putting this record in the same class as Mighty Baby. It is not as special as A Jug Of Love at all nor is it as weird. To me this record is decent attempt at counrty styled folk rock in the same vein as Neil Young's light country stuff circa 1970... On the postivie side the album is slightly relaxing and some of the songs are great but parts of it really bother me a lot.

There are a lot of records out there that are labeled as progressive. Its a funny genre that stretches forever and includes a lot of different bands. I have to say that I have never been a fan of true "prog" ie. long interludes, weird time changes etc...Marsupulami's debut record is an exception for me. This is certainly a progressive record. The songs are long and there are time changes quite often. However, the difference with this record in comparison to some other prog records is that they never lose themselves or their listeners within the songs. Each song has enough structure to keep the listener fully engaged for the entire affair. There are elemets of psych and folk in a few of the tracks and the guitar work at times is breathtaking and never boring. The record is generally pretty dark and eerie but will still appeal to all. Overall this is an amazing record and I dont think it is unfair to call this album a masterpiece.

Shadrack's Chameleon Lp is one of those records that really proves that there can be so much beauty and creativity in music when adhering to a method of simplicty. The minimalistic cover art alone is a perfect introduction as to what this record is all about. Simple acoustic chord progressions, mixed with some interesting heavier guitar work at times, excellent lyrics that deal with love, heartache and even war. Everything here is done right. I suppose there is a direct Neil Young influence on two of the tracks. The rest are more dreamy, slightly trippy love songs that center around basic acoustic chord progressions. The use of the organ on a few tracks may give this record a slight British vibe at times making you forget for a quick moment that this was done by a bunch of teenage kids from Iowa. Steve Fox was the man responsible for the majority of this project. He wrote all the songs, plays(amazing)bass, and acoustic guitar but credit has to be given to the other members as well who do an excellent job supporting him. This record has now become one of the major highlights of all the private press discoveries since the late 70's. There is a lot that can be learned from the way this record was made and I think this record will become a favorite for many new collectors for years to come. In my opinion Steve Fox makes his statement on this Lp and is now starting to get the recognition he deserves. Much thanks to Damien Napoli of Infinity Records for introducing me to this great record which has now become a personal favorite of mine.

One Of the great UK psych Lp's there really isn't anything like this one. Steve Howe makes his statement here as one of the best guitar playes the rock world has ever seen. There are quite a few elements to this lp starting with pure pop psych with backwards parts, sound effects etc. There are also different elemets and some long jams with raga and blues elements. Easily in my top 10 and I am sure a lot of you reading this feel the same. The drummer on this Lp Twink is also the Pretty Things drummer on SF Sorrow and part of the Philipe Debarge project.

One of Britain's best Psych Lp's hands down! There really is nothing quite like this one. An album full of imaginative stories and ripping rhythm guitar! They certainly have a way of hooking you into there quirky weird world where they discuss plane crashes, jesters, watchmakers, murder, broken hearts, and "Sky Children". This album should not be missed by anyone. Sometimes I tire of this record because I play it so much but after a brief hiatus it always hits the spot like none other. There is some debate as to which pressing is better. The Repertoire CD is issued in Stereo with some bonus tracks in mono. The Original mono sounds great.Though the stereo original is apparently rarer and better for this style of music. An essential recording from England circa. 1967

EX(+) Cover which only displays some bottom edge wear. And some slight discolouration on the back(very Minor and normal for this cover).Better then the last copy I sold.

EX Disc(light scuffs only!) plays almost as well as the stone Mint copy I sold for $1,200.

Wow what a record! One of my favorites of all time by far! There is something somber yet uplifting about this record. It is really like nothing else out there. Yes it is an (acid?) folk record, yes its kinda country. However you want to classify this its still totally awesome. Like their first record there is a West Coast/Grateful Dead vibe going here but unlike The Dead, The Mighty Baby know how to make great records and also (judging by their new live double album) play live as well. The review in Galactic Ramble notes on an interesting point; that the structures of these songs in terms of music theory are very odd. So, in essence Mighty Baby really push the boundaries on this one. Many my find this record incredibly difficult at first but once you give it a chance it will hook you in and convert you for life. Mighty Baby were on incredible trip of life when they made this record and thankfully we can all experience it too. Essential Listening

This is probably the hardest cover to find in decent shape, even more so then COB's Moyshe Mcstiff. What was Polydor/Blue Horizon(Same Company) thinking when they made these sleeves so fragile and thin?

July's self titled record is easily one of the top 3 UK Psych Lp's. I am personally starting to love this one more then the others for a few reasons. First, I love how a bunch of the tracks basically stop right in the middle for the use of unique sound effects. This creates an even more trippy feel on an already trippy record. It also adds relaxing elements to upbeat songs. Basically they know how to amalgamate 2 moods into 1 song and to me the results are brilliant! The song writing is also pretty interesting and not as dainty as some of the other records in the genre. All and all a great record that should not be missed by anyone who loves this scene. Highest recommendation.

I have just realized that even the US copies of July, like this one are becoming very difficult to find in good shape. Here is one that is very nice!

C.O.B's Moyshe McStiff LP is one of the most special artifacts of the era. I The themes of religion, love, and history combine for one of the most endearing and thought provoking pieces of folk and psychedelic music ever recorded.

Clive Palmer formerly of ISB is the center of the band only by title. John Bidwell and Mick Bennet are the other amazing members of this band. All three members contribute equally, even furthering the unique qualities of this LP.

The sound as I am sure you all know incorporates British Folk. Eastern , and African Sounds , and certain psychedelic elements at times. The instruments they use are unique and interesting. Just about every second of this record is breathtaking and gorgeous. I can sit here and go on for a long time about this record but instead of listening to me rant please go track this record down, it can save your life!

The cover on this one is probably one of the hardest to get in good shape as its textured and extremely fragile. This one is NM

One of Mexico's and perhaps the World's greatest Psych bands! This there monsterous debut Lp' is probably their best. A heavy guitar and garage sound dominates but there are also some popsike songs that sound quite dainty. Overall a very enjoyable Lp and on that I can certainly recommend!

One of the most loved West Coast Psych Classics. When I first heard this I was notcompletely taken by it but after a half a dozen listens it hit me. It is def one of the best from this scene and one of the better late 60's Lp's. Crushing guitar leads dominate tracks like "Disbelieven" and "Trieulogy". While some of the other tracks are more folk and country oriented. I think there is a really nice variety on this lp and I seem to like it more and more with each listen. This original 1st press is in unreal condition. I dont think I have ever seen a rare record in this kinda of shape before. There is not a single hairline or mark anywhere on the vinyl. The labels are untouched without even the slightest wear. It is clearly unplayed!

The cover is in EX+ condition with just slight age wear. there is also the original store price sticker neatly on the back. Amazingly this is one without a cut out!

Introspection is easily another one of the all time classic UK psych lp's. Every song here is a killer! There are few brief moments of talking by an old man which I actually find to be funny. As stated on the front cover the record was produced by the man himself Bill Wyman. I find this lp very upbeat and cool. The record is pretty trippy but not as out there as the EMI recordings.There is really not much else to say about this one except check it out.

Another nice rarity. Clear Blue Sky was a teenage power trio which blends elements of heavy prog with psychedelia. Stand out tracks in clude "My Heaven" and "You Mystify". This record often gets slammed as ameteurish and boring but in my opinion this is one of the better records on this highly regarded label.

This copy is in decent Ex condition and plays just about perfect aside from a light click here and there. The cover is better and closer to Nm with just a touch of seam wear to the top. A very solid copy of a rare and desirable record.

Wow this guy was from Long Island and so am I! I feel honored that the best American Psych record was recorded right here! As A fan of Edvard Munch's "Scream" I immediately became very interested in hearing the contents of this recording. Luckily the first copy I ever found of this record was in a thrift store and it cost $3 dollars! This was easily the best $3 I have ever and probably will ever spend on a record. There is nothing to dislike here. Crushing guitars great songs, lyrics, and awesome stoned vocals make this a true American East Coast Classic!

Another wonderful psych record. Released in 68 not 67. A masterfully recorded record with a nice concept. Predating The Who's Tommy but you already knew that. Anyway it's definately one of the best of the genre and one of the hardest rocking one's. Side one kicks off hard and doesnt let up until side two where things mellow out a bit starting with "Death". Unlike the other lp's of the era this one doesn't have Tolkkien influence and I couldn't really imagine these guys dressing up like wizards like Kaleidoscope or Floyd but I wasnt there so who knows... Essential!

The first record from Martin Stone (formerly of The Action) and company is one of the best and most unique in the UK Psych genre. The band amalgamates West Coast styles with UK Psych with ease. They also add a nice Middle Eastern vibe on some tracks which adds a nice extra dimension to an already mind blowing affair.

Each track is about 5 minutes or more and their only 3 or 4 songs on each side. Martin Stone is easily one of the best guitar players of the 60's because instead of just showing off his skills he knows when to change things up at exactly the right time. There is never a boring moment here.

The American an early Dead influence has just taken hold of the band and will become more pronounced on their second LP which is also another masterpiece. I can't say enough good things about this record. Essential Listening. One of my personal top 5!

Anne Briggs Second lp is one of the most the beautiful artifacts of the Folk revival of the 70's. Her singing is better then ever and this time around she uses the guitar and the bouzouki on every track. Most of the tracks on this are originally written by Anne and the ones that she covers are perfectly fitting for her voice. this is where it's at for top tier female folk. Some would argue that this lp is not at all trippy but to me her voice and unique style of play create a moody and at times creepy and trippy atmosphere.

Another one of my personal personal favorite records of all time.

This copy is as good as your going to find. the cover is Excellent all around. The disc is EX+ to NM with some harmless paper marks. Comes complete with the proper inner making this a complete top copy package.
